Norman Motte & Bailey Castle
I wanted to make a couple of Motte & Bailey castles on quite
small bases, so as to see what level of detail I could incorporate in such
a small space. Also I wanted them to be able to fit on a game table without
dwarfing it, so they could be a backdrop rather than the centre of attention.
This one measures not much more than 20 x 9inches and looks and feels the
part of a larger castle. The Normans would build very small, quick to build
wooden castles garrisoned by just a handful of men, which would then be
later enlarged. These early smaller castles are what inspired me to make
this one and another larger one, which you should see in pictures of here
very soon.
Roy Lowson is the proud owner of this one and that's his kitchen floor in
the photos which Roy took for me.
The roofs of the gatehouse and tower are removable to allow access for figures
and the main gates open and close as dictated by angry Saxons and Vikings!
The tower is also a freestanding piece. |

Roman Villa
I made this model for Alan Jenkinsons and he has been waiting for it since
the dawn of time! The roof for the main house comes off and I have added
some internal rooms with a marble flooring.
These are complicated models to make as they are quite detailed, but well
worth all the effort. |

WW2 bombed out Buildings
28mm buildings I made for an article that was featured recently in Wargames
Soldiers and Strategy.
They feature one large factory model with lift off roof and two smaller
houses. Great fun making them and they give you an idea what my WW2 project
will look like. |

Roman Fort
28mm century fort built for Mark Gosling. The buildings and the tower can
be removed.
The base for the bank is made from polystyrene and the palisade from cocktail
sticks stuck into the poly. |

French & Indian or
AWI large Blockhouse
I do enjoy making these types of models. For this one I allowed
for access within the model and added a low palisade around it.
I always keep this palisade low so that figures can fire over it and anyone
attacking it can climb over should they make it that far? |

Spanish village
Toby Pilling wanted a series of Napoleonic Spanish buildings, all set of
1ft x 1ft bases. This is one of them and it shows a small village with a
gateway leading in and out.You can have a lot of fun making these types
of buildings as the idea is not to make anything look too neat and tidy,
but rather to give the overall look seem a little haphazard in design. |

Leuthen Church
Now to be honest I made this a couple of years ago, but as I do not have
a Seven Years War picture gallery, these pictures have remained unseen for
some time now and thought I would give them a little exposure again. The
church with its substantial defenses, which would have been used as a local
defensive refuge in times of trouble, are based on the original and it was
made for Michael Holgate. |
 |
 |
The church is made from MDF wood
and I used polystyrene coving roll to represent the stone walling around
the church (see model tips) |
