Welcome to the Touching History Site
This site is all about the models and terrain I have made over the last
few decades.
My aim is always to try to make realistic looking models that recreate
history and which endeavor to bring history to life.
My model books can be bought here On-line and they show you how to make
some of the terrain and model buildings which I have been making over
the last few decades.
Thanks for visiting - Paul

Demo Games for 2008
The next show for 2008 is at the
Partizan show at Newark on May 25th. I will be there with my demo game
"The Revenge of the French 45th Line"
The game is to be set in Napoleonic Spain during the later part of its
occupation by the French.
The setting will be in rural Spain with a low valley, hill top villages
and lots of places for pesky Spanish to harass and hide from the French.
This will be my main demo game for most of 2008, but I will put on another
game for the September Partizan show. Not sure what this game will be
a Dark Age game, linked to Issue 5.
Shows I am attending during 2008
Salute
Partizan, both shows
Bovington
Warfare
This is a few less than last year, but if I can spare the time, I may
attend a few more, such as a Whiff of Grapeshot and Colour's.

the month, or I am unlikely to be able to take it up.

Later this Week
I will add Paul's Blog, which will cover News & Events
in the Wargame World, World wide current affairs, lots of non Wargame
stuff.
It's bound to be a little "Fruity" as there's a lot to talk
about out there, so please it's best read
by adults only.
Forthcoming Spanish Peninsular layout
I may sell the layout I display at the Newark Partizan show.
This will be an extremely rare chance to buy some of the best terrain

The price will be around £3,500 email

unique one off layout.

Thank you
Thanks for all of you who have bought Issue 4 thus far and for the kind
comments that I have received about its content.
Helping me
I have not as yet reached the stage of making any profit from the model
books, so any help with the promotion of them and actual sales is gratefully
received.
So please if you like the books, do try to spread the word about them
and encourage one and all to buy them.
Issue 5
is confirmed as Dark Ages and I hope to have it out for Christmas.
All the best - Paul

My home at Drawdykes Castle
I have to do some research into the castle, which were known
as either "Pele Towers", or "Tower Houses", so for
now here are a couple of pictures of the it. On the rear shot, the ornate
stone in the lower center is a Roman gravestone and the Wall line is just
150 yards away.
The windows and ornate doorway are a much later 17th Century addition,
with the original design having only two reasonably sized windows up on
the 2nd floor for light into the Hall, with all the others being small
arrow/musket slits.
The basic size of the tower is around 35ft x 25ft and about 60 + ft high.
Due to the windows and some of the buildings around it, it has lost a
little of its dramatic impact, but inside you can get lost in time as
its internal structure and rooms remain virtually unchanged for it's 600
years. It is one amazing place.

Rear view
Front view
There are battlements along the top of the front of the tower, so that
not very pleasant items could be thrown down on anyone trying to break
through the only gate into the tower.
The Colonel of the 45th seen here encouraging his men. I have to look
into the actual name of the commanding officer during 1813.
Dave Woodward's French
Regiment which he kindly loaned me, on the prowl during my game at Salute.
My brave Spanish Guerillas
The Drummer boy of the 45th looks a little troubled?
